Business Licenses
Most Mount Airy businesses no longer need a City privilege license. Taxicabs and beer and wine sellers still do.
Who needs a license
Because of state legislation effective July 1, 2015, businesses physically located in the Mount Airy city limits no longer need a license, except those operating taxicabs and beer and wine privilege license holders.
Timing
A privilege license must be obtained no later than the first day of business operation. Licenses run from July 1 of one year through June 30 of the next.
Fees and display
Fees vary by type of business. Post the license in a conspicuous place at the regular place of business, or keep it where it can be inspected if there is no regular place of business.
